How is thermal paper made?
Thermal paper is a special paper made through a complex coating process. Its substrate is usually high-quality base paper, which is first calendered to make its surface smoother. Subsequently, a layer of thermal coating is applied to one side of the paper. This coating is mainly composed of dyes and developers. The dyes will react chemically when heated to show the color. The coating of thermal coating requires sophisticated equipment and strict quality control to ensure uniform coating thickness and high reaction sensitivity. The entire manufacturing process requires not only high-precision mechanical equipment, but also the environmental protection and chemical stability of the raw materials to meet the needs of different application scenarios (such as receipts, labels,tickets, etc.).
Does thermal paper need ink?
Thermal paper pos roll does not require ink. It prints by applying a special heat-sensitive coating to the surface of the paper. When a thermal printer heats a specific area of the paper, the coating undergoes a chemical reaction and changes color, forming text or images. Therefore, thermal printing does not require traditional ink, carbon ribbon or ribbon.
This technology is widely used in receipts, labels, tickets and other occasions because it is fast to print, simple to maintain and low cost.
